چکیده

In this study, the effect of cholinergic or adrenergic inhibitors on the reactivation of latent Pseudorabies virus (PRV) was analyzed to clarify the mechanism of the reactivation of latent PRV by acetylcholine. For acetylcholine inhibition, latently infected mice were injected with scopolamine or succynilcholine before acetylcholine stimulation. For sympathetic blocking, mice were preinjected intraperitoneally with phenoxybenzamine or propranolol. The signals to both acetylcholine receptors had no relationship to the reactivation of latent PRV, and both sympathetic blockers showed inhibition of PRV reactivation by acetylcholine. In our reactivation model, a large amount of acetylcholine may stimulate the sympathetic nerve system in some way to reactivate the virus.

Isolation of Bovine Herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1) From Latently Infected/Carrier Cattle in Ahvaz

Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) is one of the most important infectious viruses of cattle which is considered as the causative agent of several clinical conditions in this species. Hence, we tried to isolate a local strain of the virus from carrier cattle in Ahvaz based on a strategy for reactivation of the latent infection in hosts having antibodies against the virus. Thus, 20 cattle were examin...

Identification of Synonymous Codon Usage Bias in the Pseudorabies Virus UL31 Gene

Background: Little knowledge of synonymous codon usage pattern of pseudorabies virus (PRV) genome, especially the UL31 gene in the process for its evolution is available. Objectives: In the present study, the codon usage bias between PRV UL31 sequence and the UL31-like sequences was identified. Materials and Methods: We used a comprehensive analysi...

Localization of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 DNA in Latently Infected BALB/c Mice Neurons Using in situ Polymerase Chain Reaction

Background: Herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1) establishes a lifelong latent infection in neurons following primary infection. The existence of latent HSV-1 DNA in the trigeminal ganglia of infected BALB/c mice was examined using a direct in situ PCR technique, based on Digoxigenin-11-dUTP detection system with anti-digoxigenin-peroxidase and 3,3'-diaminobenzidine (DAB) substrate. Methods: Eig...

Glutamine supplementation suppresses herpes simplex virus reactivation.

Chronic viral infections are difficult to treat, and new approaches are needed, particularly those aimed at reducing reactivation by enhancing immune responses. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) establishes latency and reactivates frequently, and breakthrough reactivation can occur despite suppressive antiviral therapy. Virus-specific T cells are important to control HSV, and proliferation of activate...

Ex vivo stimulation of B cells latently infected with gammaherpesvirus 68 triggers reactivation from latency.

Murine gammaherpesvirus 68 (gammaHV68) infection of mice results in the establishment of a chronic infection, which is largely maintained through latent infection of B lymphocytes. Acute virus replication is almost entirely cleared by 2 weeks postinfection. Spontaneous reactivation of gammaHV68 from latently infected splenocytes upon ex vivo culture can readily be detected at the early stages o...
